Hadith Level 01

This course offers an in-depth exploration of Nawawi’s Forty, also known as “Forty Hadith” in Arabic (al-arbain al-nawawiyyah). Compiled by Imam al-Nawawi, these forty hadiths are primarily sourced from Sahih Muslim and Sahih al-Bukhari. Over the centuries, this collection has been highly esteemed for its concise presentation of the foundational principles of Islamic sacred law, or Shariah, by one of the most respected authorities in Islamic jurisprudence. Imam al-Nawawi aimed to select hadiths that are considered significant fundamentals of the religion, often described by scholars as “the axis of Islam,” “the half of Islam,” or “the third of it.” Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of classifying these forty hadiths as sound (Sahih). This work stands out as a prominent example of the arbainiyat genre of hadith.
